In mathematics we study Processes, Number, Algebra, Shape and Space, Measures and Data Handling.

Mathematics is studied for 5/6 periods each week and all pupils follow the Northern Ireland Programme of Study to GCSE.

Our aims

To make mathematics enjoyable and to equip the pupils with skills which will be of value to them in their future careers.

Making Mathematics Fun

The mathematics teachers use a range of teaching strategies such as games, to reinforce basic mathematical concepts, develop mental maths skills and encourage team working.

All Year 8 pupils take part in a ‘Maths Fun Day’.  This involves taking part in a lot of individual and group activities.

All Year 8 pupils also go on a Maths Trail to Carnfunnock Park.
